Cambridge Pathway - Advanced

We deliver the Cambridge Advanced curriculum for all subjects in Stages 12 and 13. This programme builds on the foundation of the Cambridge Upper Secondary stage and prepares students for Cambridge International AS and A Level examinations.

The two-year programme allows students to develop a deep understanding of subjects, as well as independent learning and constructive thinking skills – abilities which universities value highly. This individualised curriculum develops learners’ knowledge, understanding and skills in:

  • In-depth subject content
  • Independent thinking
  • Applying knowledge and understanding to new as well as familiar situations
  • Handling and evaluating different types of information source
  • Thinking logically and presenting ordered and coherent arguments
  • Making judgements, recommendations and decisions
  • Presenting reasoned explanations, understanding implications and communicating them clearly and logically
  • Working and communicating in English

At this stage learners choose which subjects they study, allowing them to specialise or study a range of subjects. We encourage all students to work towards achieving the Cambridge AICE Diploma, in addition to their individual AS and A-Level qualifications and therefore we strongly recommend that learners follow at least five subjects from three curriculum areas at AS level and at least three subjects from three curriculum areas at A Level, including Global Perspectives and Research.

At Mayfair International Academy we review the subjects that we offer at Advanced Level each year. We will not be running an Advanced Level in the 2018-2019 academic year, however listed below are the subjects we aim to offer in the 2019-2020 academic year.*
