In our Primary department students follow the Cambridge Primary programme, which provides a world-class curriculum set by the global standards for international education.

Throughout the two-year Key Stage 1 and four-year Key Stage 2 programmes, our learners study the following subjects:

Our Art and Design programme covers a wide range of areas that engage, challenge and inspire our students to create their own artwork. Throughout the programme learners will experiment with landscapes, portraits, still life, sculpture and much more, as well as learning about famous artists and artistic movements throughout history.

Cambridge Primary English enables learners to communicate confidently and effectively and to develop the critical skills to respond to a range of information, media and texts with understanding and enjoyment. Learners who follow this curriculum framework will develop a first language competency in English based on a curriculum designed to be successful in any culture and to promote cross-cultural understanding.

This curriculum develops learners’ speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in English. It has been developed in conjunction with Cambridge English Language Assessment and is based on the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), used across the world to map learners’ progress in English.

The Oxford International Primary Geography programme offers an international approach that inspires learners to discover the world around them. The six-year course provides an engaging introduction to geography, using real-life examples from around the globe. The curriculum covers key aspects of both human and physical geography, from the basics of mapping to more complex topics such as the pros and cons of ecotourism and how to meet the needs of the world's growing population.

Students develop their knowledge of history through a variety of fun and engaging topics from the ancient civilisations of Greece and Rome to more modern events, people and changes, such as the Second World War. Following the new National Curriculum for England, learners gain a coherent understanding of Britain's past, as well as that of the wider world.

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is now part of the educational experience worldwide and regarded as the new 'literacy', alongside reading, writing and numeracy. We follow the Cambridge ICT Starters programme that introduces young learners to the key ICT applications they need to achieve computer literacy and to understand the impact of technology on our daily lives.

The mathematics curriculum framework explores five content areas: number, geometry, measure, handling data and problem solving. This curriculum focuses on principles, patterns, systems, functions and relationships so that learners can apply their mathematical knowledge and develop a holistic understanding of the subject.

Our Music programme of study is written by leading experts in primary music education and consists of quality and engaging music lessons with careful progression throughout the Primary stages. Following the revised English National Curriculum from September 2014, the programme is designed as a topic-based, cross-curricular approach to support children's learning in music and across other subjects through music.

Our Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) programme of study is designed to help students develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage many of the critical opportunities, challenges and responsibilities they will face as they grow up and in adulthood. The planned programme of learning provides opportunities and experiences to help children and young people grow and develop as individuals, as members of families and as members of social and economic communities.

The Physical Education (PE) and Dance programmes are developed and written in partnership with a highly regarded consultant in the field and are closely linked to the four strands of the revised National Curriculum. Both programmes provide opportunities for children to become physically confident in a way that supports their health and fitness.

The PE curriculum allows learners to work through each of the skill areas while looking at actions, tactics, paired and group work. It is designed to inspire all learners to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities.

The Dance programme of study is creative and imaginative and allows students to explore actions, dynamics, partner work and space through a range of fun and challenging lessons.

This curriculum framework covers four content areas: scientific enquiry, biology, chemistry and physics. Scientific enquiry is about considering ideas, evaluating evidence, planning, investigating, recording and analysing data. Environmental awareness and some history of science are also part of the curriculum.

As a British school in Spain, we are deligted to follow the 'Lengua Castellana' programme for all Spanish students. We follow the Anaya programme of study for 'infantil' and 'primaria', allowing learners to work at their own pace through the recommended textbooks and workbooks. The Anaya scheme is designed to provide learners with useful tools for primary education, covering the basic skills, with topics carefully selected to be of interest to each age range. 'Conocimiento del Medio' (Social and Natural Sciences) is incorporated into our Lengua Castellana classes, reinforcing students' knowledge about the Spanish culture, history, festivities and the geography of Spain.

Our Spanish as a Foreign Language programme follows a comprehensive scheme of work that fulfils the requirements of the Modern Foreign Languages Curriculum and is enhanced by our native Spanish teachers and the language immersion environment in which it is delivered. Learners develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills using appropriate Spanish language and grammar, while gaining accurate pronunciation and intonation. 'Conocimiento del Medio' (Social and Natural Sciences) is incorporated into our Spanish as a Foreign Language classes, allowing students to gain knowledge about the Spanish culture, history, festivities and the geography of Spain.
