Secondary School - Curriculum

Our Secondary classes follow the British National Curriculum, preparing students to take GCSE examinations in Stage 11.

Throughout Key Stage 3 (Stage 7, Stage 8 and Stage 9) students study the following subjects:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Art
  • Geography
  • History
  • Information and Communications Technology (ICT)
  • Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)
  • Physical Educational
  • Spanish
  • French

Throughout Key Stage 4 (Stage 10 and Stage 11) students follow the GCSE course in preparation for examinations that take place towards the end of Stage 11. The GCSE syllabuses are set, examinations administered and certificates awarded by a governing body. Mayfair International Academy is registered with Cambridge International Examinations and EDEXCEL as an international exam centre and GCSE qualifications are internationally recognised.

The following subjects are compulsory at Key Stage 4:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Combined Science
  • Spanish
  • History
  • ICT

Students may then choose their optional subjects from a list that varies from year to year depending upon demand. The options for those joining Stage 10 in the 2015-2016 academic year include:

  • Art and Design
  • Business Studies
  • Physical Education
  • French

Secondary School - Mayfair International Academy Estepona Throughout the whole school, students are allocated to one of our four school tribes. Secondary students may participate in weekly inter-tribe sports competitions, as well as regular inter-tribe events with focus on other subjects.
